He made the remark in a meeting with the members of the Women and Family Faction of the Parliament, held Sunday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zahra (SA), which marks the Women’s Day in Iran.
Ghalibaf congratulated all women on this auspicious occasion.
He also said there have been many developments elevating the status of women in society since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
The issue of women is among the strengths of the Islamic Revolution but the enemies try to turn it into the Achilles' heel of the Islamic Republic, he said.
Ghalibaf stressed that confronting this enemy attempt should be a priority for the lawmakers.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Parliament Speaker emphasized the importance of the family in the Constitution and the need to focus on this foundation in legislation.
